Born in Belgrade, Serbia, Ana Drobac studied the violin with Anne Robert at the Faculty of Music of the University of Montreal, where she obtained both her Master’s and Doctorate degrees. She also has a Bachelor’s degree from the Academy of Music in Belgrade. A member of the Trois Rivières Symphony Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of Laval, and the group La Pietà under the direction of Angèle Dubeau, she has performed in the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival since 2005, which led her to tour in Japan, Europe and Brazil. She was a member of the Youth Orchestra of the Americas from 2006 to 2008, and performed under the direction of such famous conductors as Kent Nagano and Lorin Maazel. From 1999 to 2003, she was a member of the Chamber Orchestra of Saint George Strings in Belgrade and was also a member of the Orchestra for Weddings and Funerals directed by Goran Bregovic, with whom she has perfomed in Germany, France, Sweden, Lebanon, Italy, and in the former Yugoslavia. A devoted professor, she teaches about thirty pupils.
